Fishy Fishy

Not Like We Remember it...

Not Like I Remember it...
Every now and again we look back on fond memories and try to recreate the moments, usually to find the magic and wonder are gone, and all that is left is a miniature Cinna-Bon that has been heated to a combustible state that instantly burns everything it touches, but you are determined to eat it anyway and fake that you are having a good time.

Post 721, but who's counting anymore..

So today was a pretty cool one...
I woke to my alarm at 6:10 as usual, and then realized something completely out of the ordinary had happened...
I actually got out of bed without the usual ritual of starring off into space and smacking the alarm repeatedly before finally starting my day. I coincidentally had gone to bed at a reasonable hour for the first time in forever, which was the simple explanation...

But I found myself wide awake with hours of time on my hands...
I didn't know what to do with myself, and ended up putting away all the dishes, cooking breakfast, making coffee for myself and the snoozing guest on my couch and really enjoyed the morning...

Off I went to what would be the rest of a stellar day...
I did make the realization that on account of a tech training I had done the night before (which went great!) I accidentally left my teaching laptop at home... So with the clock counting down until my classes began I jumped in the car and flew home...
Opening the door to find Autumn sitting in front of the machine in question... I apologized profusely as I closed the lid and ran out the door... Back in time to get more coffee and get rolling...

A few key munchkins were out of my class today, the really talkative ones, and I was happy to find that all of my classes went sooooo well... We even got class points for positive attitudes... like when I said one class (which was heavily prompted and encouraged) was getting an extra two minutes of keyboarding time, and they all cheered like they had won the sweepstakes...

Oh it was awesome... I really wish I could have more days like today, where I have nothing but great things to say about the little ones and everyone really did their best...

Anyways, that was just a great way to spend the day...
And then I was off to teach first graders how to podcast, before setting up for a nice long staff meeting where we got to hang out with our art teacher and have some fun...

Now off to another 2 hour meeting and then back to bed...

Nothing profound, just a run down on my day.

1977 SNL Revelation

Theodoric of York:
"Well, I'll do everything humanly possible. Unfortunately, we barbers aren't gods. You know, medicine is not an exact science, but we are learning all the time. Why, just fifty years ago, they thought a disease like your daughter's was caused by demonic possession or witchcraft. But nowadays we know that Isabelle is suffering from an imbalance of bodily humors, perhaps caused by a toad or a small dwarf living in her stomach."

That is what I have been feeling like lately...

I hear giggling,
Better go...

Tuesday Haze

Uploaded - 11\11\08-4
Just a shot of me taking Sierra off to work as a start to my morning, only to find moments after returning home that she had left her phone and I would be getting back into the car yet again.

Productive Paranoia

Who hasn't been here before, waiting for a friend in a public place and thinking that a photo of a security camera might come in handy. Apparently I watch way too much CSI. But as usual I like to error on the side of caution and be amply prepared for all occasions.

Creative Ingenuity in Cooking

So more on the topic...
I wander downstairs this morning, to confirm that my house guests are indeed gone, to find a bag of trash leaking all over my kitchen floor, oozing it's contents and spreading the joy that comes with the scent of rotting garbage. Lovely...

With that disaster contained and after thoroughly scrubbing my floors on hands and knees well before 8:00 I feel very productive.

Moving on to the next mission I start foraging for food... 3 eggs and 2 slices of bread is about all that is left...
Aside from the plethora of frozen burritos that I rely on for every meal of the day...
Meanwhile I start up a pot of coffee, knowing full well that there is nothing to cut it with...
I had thought of breaking down and taking on the miny mission to get rations... but sunk back in the couch and thought,
what would McGyver do?

That's right, McGyver would take advantage of the abundant supply of ice cream in stark contrast to the overall absence of food in this house...

So Tin Roof Sundae Lattes it is...

That was my little victory for the day.

And I just received my new mic from woot, I don't know what it is called, or what I will do with it, but that in no way limits my enthusiasm for a new toy. And I am extra excited cause there is a little check box on the front of the package that says, "Looks Damn Cool" cant beat that.

Down for the Count

Uploaded - 11\6\08-2
After a 13 hour day, ending with a two hour dance for the little ones, I am completely exhausted...
Tomorrow will be grading for 120 students and then conferences with the parents and guardians.
And the same on Monday, with a little break on Tuesday to plan for the rest of the term....

I am so tired.

Positive Reinforcement

Uploaded - 11\6\08-6

These are two of our straight A students who completed all of their work before the end of the term, when given an option for free time during a catch up period, they came down to visit my room, captured their photos in Photo Booth, imported them into ArtRage, modified them on a smart Board and captured their art with their phones...
Super cool...
I am getting more kids who want to create original works in their free time and look forward to the privilege.
